How To Break Through Negativity

Many of us still don't realize that we can be in control of our thinking processes; that in most cases we can be the boss over how we want to think.

Because of frustrations about our challenges and our frequent feeling of being overwhelmed, many of us have developed incredibly negative thinking patterns and these negative conceptions make it even harder to manage our challenges and move forward in our lives.

Negative thinking processes can be positively influenced by practicing positive thinking. It helps us to focus on what we are good at and what we have achieved, which increases feelings of motivation and happiness.
The result of this is that it reduces our feelings of being depressed or stuck, because we are moving forward into a more positive direction.

If you follow the under mentioned self motivation tips and use them as self motivation exercise you will develop self motivation skills and you will notice a shift towards more positive thinking patterns.

1. Nurture yourself

It will help you tremendously to be more positive when you look after yourself well. Eat healthy, exercise, take a nice hot bath once in a while, have a regular massage, go to the sauna once a week, make sure you rest well, etc., etc.

2. No judgments

If you learn to observe your negative thoughts as passing clouds and realize that it is your choice whether or not you attach to one of them, you do not empower negative thoughts, so that they do not have any power over you. We have 60.000 thoughts per day and it's our choice entirely which one we choose to hold on to.

3. Be physical

We all know how wonderful it can feel when we get or give a hug. It's great to have warm physical contact with people we love and it's even great when we do it with our pets. It instantly gives us a warm feeling inside.

4. Find more social activity

Surround yourself with positive, happy and healthy living people and get nurtured by that energy, because this will have a positive influence on you.

5. Be grateful

There is so much to be grateful for! Take some time each day to think about the things that are good in your life. Make a little list of these things on a post-it and stick them in your diary, on your computer, on the bathroom mirror, so that you are constantly reminded. By reminding yourself of the things you are grateful for you are much better able to deal with challenges and stress issues in your life.

6. Reduce your convictions

During our life we build up all types of convictions about things. "That is not done" or "You should have done so and so... " are simple examples. By not delivering the message of them you expand your world, so that more people and situations can enter your world. It makes your world a bigger and better place. Also refrain from statements like: "You always do that to me" or "You never pay attention to me". Saying things like that make situations seem worse than they are and they program your brain into believing that certain people just don't perform.

7. Speak up for yourself

From our parents and society we have learned to speak in such a way that we are being accepted, so that we are seen as normal. With this habit we have sometimes developed a fear of not being liked or accepted and we start to assume we know what the other person thinks about us.

Stop wasting your time and energy worrying over something you don't even know exists. Start talking to people and ask questions. Speak up for yourself, let them hear your voice. Remember that by speaking from your heart you start to attract whatever it is that you truly want in your life.

8. Stop assuming

Many amongst us tend to automatically have negative thoughts about certain things. "Those people are whispering, they must be talking about me" or "My boss wants to see me, that means trouble". Crush these type of negative thoughts immediately. They are nothing more than idle fancies.

9. Help other people

Each individual feels energized, warm and good about himself after helping another person. See how you can help people. Be a volunteer somewhere, be of help to someone or something or see how you can contribute to society any other way. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. Break through the pattern of extensive worrying

If you notice you are brooding on a negative thought extensively, than interrupt that process by forcing yourself to do something completely different. Notice that you are hyper focussing on something negative, something that does not serve you. At such moments your are not productive, not rational and not solution oriented, you are worrying excessively for the sake of worrying. By doing something physical like picking up a book, listening to some music, going for a run, or even going for a walk you break through this negative thinking spiral.

With these self motivation tips you can start changing your negative thinking patterns. Therefore I recommend you to have a good and conscious look at how you are presently functioning in your life and if necessary to do some self motivation exercise in order to obtain the necessary self motivation skills.

You Are My Life

There was a boy in India who was sent by his parents to a boarding school. Before being sent away this boy was the brightest student in his class. He was at the top in every competition. He was a champion.

But the boy changed after leaving home and attending the boarding school. His grades started dropping. He hated being in a group. He was lonely all the time. And there were especially dark times when he felt like committing suicide. All of this because he felt worthless and that no one loved him.

His parents started worrying about the boy. But even they did not know what was wrong with him. So his dad decided to travel to the boarding school and talk with him.

They sat on the bank of the lake near the school. The father started asking him casual questions about his classes, teachers and sports. After some time his dad said, 'Do you know son, why I am here today?"

The boy answered back, "to check my grades?"

"No, no" his dad replied, "I am here to tell you that you are the most important person for me. I want to see you happy. I don't care about grades. I care about you. I care about your happiness. YOU ARE MY LIFE."

These words caused the boy's eyes to fill with tears. He hugged his dad. They didn't say anything to each other for a long time.

Now the boy had everything he wanted. He knew there was someone on this earth who cared for him deeply. He meant the world to someone. And today this young man is in college at the top of his class and no one has ever seen him sad!

Thanks a lot dad. YOU ARE MY LIFE.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." - Leo Buscaglia

Great Quote

The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work
and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and don’t settle!
As with all matters of the heart you’ll know when you find it.
So keep looking, don’t settle!

Believe in YOURSELF

So before you tell yourself you don”t have the talent of a Michael Jordan or whoever your role model is, remember the extraordinary amount of time they devoted to practice and study. To succeed like them you must put in the effort they did. Otherwise, you can never know what you”re capable of. I believe that if opportunity isn”t provided at a young age, it can be created later in adulthood through discipline and imaginative involvement in the pursuits we care about. You can and must look for ways to experiment and to push the boundaries of your capacity in different areas.

Jerry is the manager of a restaurant in America. He is
always in a good
mood and always has something positive to say. When
someone would ask him how
he was doing, he would always reply, "If I were any
better, I would be
Many of the waiters at his restaurant quit their jobs
when he changed
jobs, so they could follow him around from restaurant
to restaurant.
The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of
his attitude.
He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having
a bad day, Jerry was always there, telling the
employee how to look on the positive side of the
Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I
went up to Jerry
and asked him, "I don't get it! No one can be a
positive person all of the
time.How do you do it?"
Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to
myself, I have two
choices today. I can choose to be in a good mood or I
can choose to be in a bad mood. I always choose to be
in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can
choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from
it. I always choose to learn from it.
Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can
choose to accept their complaining or I can point out
the positive side of life.
I always choose to point out the positive side of
"But it's not always that easy," I protested.
"Yes, it is," Jerry said "Life is all about choices.
When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a
choice. You choose how you react to situations. You
choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to
be in a good mood or bad mood. It's your choice how
you live your life."
Several years later, I heard that Jerry accidentally
did something you are never supposed to do in the
restaurant business: left the back door of his
restaurant open one morning and was robbed by three
armed men. While trying to open the safe, his hand,
shaking from nervousness slipped off the combination.
The robbers panicked and shot him.
Luckily, Jerry was found quickly and rushed to the
hospital. After 18
hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry
was released from the
hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his
I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When
I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any
better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?"
I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had
gone through his
mind as the robbery took place.
"The first thing that went through my mind was that I
should have locked
the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, after they shot
me, as I lay on the
floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could
choose to live or choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared?" I asked.
Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept
telling me. I was going to be fine. But when they
wheeled me into the Emergency Room and I saw the
expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I
got really scared.

In their eyes, I read 'He's a dead man.' I knew I need
to take action."
"What did you do?" I asked.
"Well, there was a big nurse shouting questions at
me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to
anything." 'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses
stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a
deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their
laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Please
operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'."

Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but
also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from
him that every day you have the choice to either enjoy
your life or to hate it. The only thing that is truly
yours that no one can control or take from you-is your
attitude, so if you can take care of that, everything
else in life becomes much easier. Now you have two
choices to make: 1. You can just close the browser
now, OR
2. You can forward it to someone you care about.
I hope you will choose #2. As I did

An Hour A Day

I hear a lot of people say that they want to change their lives: lose weight, make more money, learn something new, take up a new hobby, accomplish some physical challenge, etc. Sadly, most of those people then go on to say that they wish they could do that, but they can’t. And most of the time the reason they can’t ends up being a variation on one of these two:

1. I don’t have enough time.
2. I’ll be too old before I complete it.

Excuse me, but both of those reasons are bullshit. The second one, especially. How old will you be if you don’t complete it? You can sit there and wish all you like, and complain about how you’re not getting any younger and the world is passing you by, or you can decide that you want to do something. Either way, time will pass. But after five or twenty years, the person who actually tries will have something to show for it. The person who spent that time complaining about how it’s too hard or will take too long will have nothing but bitterness.

As for the “I don’t have enough time” complaint: that’s crap, too. You might not have enough time to dedicate your life to a new pursuit, but you most definitely have time to improve your life. All it takes is an hour a day, and most people spend way more than an hour every day watching TV, surfing the Web, or doing other things that are neither relaxing nor productive.

Let me give an example. I’ve mentioned a time or two that I used to run marathons when I was younger. I since stopped running and took up bicycling, but lately I’ve wanted to get back into running. So I set myself a goal of running a 10K race (6.2 miles). I can’t run 6 miles today. I’m hard pressed to run even one mile without stopping. But I can run a bit, walk some, run a bit more, and so on for an hour every day. I don’t know yet how long it’ll take me to build up to 6 miles, but every day I go out I find that I can run a little bit further. And in a few months I’ll be up to 6 miles.

Another example is education. A lot of people think they need school in order to get educated. It’s true that if you want a degree or a certification, you need to attend formal classes. But if you just want to learn about a particular topic, you have all the educational resources you need on the Web, in your public library, bookstores, and All you need to do is start reading. Try reading on your topic for an hour a day.

Want to learn the piano? Spend an hour a day practicing. Build strength? Get some weights and a beginner’s book and spend an hour a day lifting. Learn to write better? Practice writing an hour every day. Pretty much whatever you want to do, you can get a very good start on it by allocating one hour per day, and I don’t know anybody who doesn’t have at least an hour per day to spend on self improvement.

Try it. Rather than complaining about how something is too hard or will take too long, sit down and plan how you can accomplish that thing you’ve always dreamed about. Spend an hour per day working toward your goal. You’ll be surprised at how much progress you make in just a few weeks. The longer you work at it, the more you’ll learn and the better you’ll become, and the more you’ll want to continue. All you have to lose is time, and the rewards are potentially limitless.

Thought for the Day..!!

Always try to get what you like, otherwise you will be forced to like what you get.
